HINES, Mary Viola - 94, of New Minas, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Three Mile Plains, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Eunice (Lynch) Carr. In her early years, she had been employed with various jobs throughout the area and later dedicated her time as a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Church Street, Port Williams, where she had been active with the ACW. She enjoyed drawing and painting and loved her cats, who were great company for her in recent years. She is survived by a son, David (Cheryll), New Minas; nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, George W. Hines; two sisters, Ethel and Jean; three brothers, Ralph, Orson and Ronald. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There was no visitation, by request. A private family graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in the Starr’s Point Cemetery, Port Williams, Reverend David Garrett officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
