Passed on: March 19th, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Isabel Frances Garland, of Royal Avenue, Sydney (formerly, Columbia Street) at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Saturday, March 19, 2011.
Born in Sydney, Isabel was the daughter of the late William and Fanny (Rowe) Bonnell.
Isabel’s love, kindness and dedication for family and friends were the qualities that endeared her to us all. Her gentle nature brought joy to all who knew her. She always put her family first and enjoyed the visits of many friends and neighbours, with whom she loved to share a cup of tea. Isabel worked at the Dosco General Office in the early years, then stayed home to raise a family with her husband and love of her life, Don, who passed away on Dec. 28, 2010.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Gerald) Matheson, Sydney, and Barbara (Jamie) McDonald, Sydney Forks; grandchildren, Donald (Paula) Matheson, Jeff (Tracey) McDonald and Matt McDonald, as well as great-grandchildren, Justin Matheson, Brooke and Paige McDonald, all of whom brought much joy to her life.
Isabel was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being predeceased by brothers, John, Gordon and Arthur Bonnell, and sisters, Enid Matheson and Florence Bonnell.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 24 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
There are some things that never, ever leave us. A mother’s love is one of them.
Mom, we love you and miss you.
