Elizabeth Wood
The death of Elizabeth (Betty) Wood, age 61, of Amherst, wife of Bert Wood, occurred peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst, surrounded by her family. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of Greta (Lynk) Feldman and the late Horace Feldman.
After teaching elementery school in the Halifax area for 35 years, Elizabeth turned to other activities during the days. Halton (Ontario) Habitat for Humanity, the Toronto Food Bank (Beaches Area), Amherst VON, Amherst Food Bank, Amherst IODE, Thursday mornings coffee bowling league and many activities associated with Crossroads Gospel Temple Church.
Betty will be sadly missed by her husband of 41 years, Bert Wood; her mother Greta Feldman; a son, Broderick (Michelle); 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Timothy; 2 brothers, Donnie ( Marilyn ) and Robert (Carol). She was predeceased by her father Horace Feldman and by a grandchild, Jonathan Michael Wood.
Betty's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777), from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 4 pm, Rev. Mitchell Lewis officiating. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 pm.
