MEADOWVILLE – Isabel Norrie MacLeod, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home in Meadowville on Monday, July 20, 2009.
Born in 1915 at Lovat, Pictou County, she was the daughter of the late John William Stevenson MacDonald and Jessie Anne MacPherson.
She is survived by her son, John Robert, daughter-in-law, Brenda, and grandchildren, Marin, and Daniel.
She was predeceased by her husband Daniel William MacLeod, an infant daughter, Jessie Alice, also a brother in infancy.
Isabel was a graduate of Pictou Academy and the Nova Scotia Normal College, and further extended her education at St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish. She taught for over 33 years in rural Pictou County schools. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn, and had been a choir member in both Scotsburn Bethel and St. Andrew’s, Gairloch. She was also a member of the Bethel Ladies Aid, Meadowville and Elmfield W.M.S., and a life member of the Clan Macleod Society of North Nova Scotia.
Visitation will be held 2:30-4:30 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday from Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn, with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery.
