NEW GLASGOW – Leia Bettina Jewell, 39, passed away suddenly, Sunday, March 20, 2011 at home, surrounded by family.
Born, January 16, 1972, in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Thurman “Doc” and Anne (Davidson) Jewell.
Leia was attending Chignecto Central Adult High School, New Glasgow and was to graduate in June of this year. Leia enjoyed a variety of activities, and music, but karaoke was her passion. She was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow and an auxiliary member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow. Leia was a joyful and outgoing person, who cherished her family and friends. Above all else, she was a loving and devoted mother to her only daughter, Aleia.
Surviving besides her parents, Doc and Anne, are her daughter, Aleia; siblings: Mitchell (Teresa), Toronto, Ont.; Thuranne “Tissy” (Binoj), Bedford; Redell (Kathy), New Glasgow, Beverlee (Robert) MacLellan, New Glasgow; Nina-Lee “Gouch” Alhambra, Kansas City, Kan.; grandmother, Agatha Mills, Riverton; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by Nanny, Hilda Dorrington.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Leia’s memory towards her daughter’s education.
