Harold Simeon Pitcher, 83, Spruce Haven Drive, Sydney, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in Clarenville, Newfoundland.
Born in Greens Harbour, NL, he was the son of the late James and Laura (Harnum) Pitcher.
Harold was a member of the United Protestant Church of Sydney River and the church brotherhood for over 50 years. He was formerly employed at Sydney Steel and in later years, was a home building contractor.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby (Balsom); daughters, Shirley (Lionel) Marchand, Port Hawkesbury and Linda Paris, Belleville, Ont.; sons, Keith and Gary, Beaverbank, NS; sister, Ivy Williamson, Sydney; brother, Malcolm, Moncton, NB; daughter-in-law, Diane Pitcher, Prospect, NS; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Harold was predeceased by his son, Donald; twin sisters in infancy; brother, Donald and a brother in infancy; and two grandsons.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at United Protestant Church of Sydney River on Saturday 2 p.m., with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment in Alfred Smith Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
