John was predeceased by his father, Tennis Robert Marshall, of Nova Scotia and his mother Mary Ann Marshall (née MacDonald), also of N.S. John drove a logging truck from the age of 14 in Nova Scotia. He came to B.C. in the 1950's and worked as a log truck driver. For a period of time, John was the owner of five logging trucks in the North Thompson Valley. He enjoyed driving and would have continued to do so if not for a brain aneurysm he suffered at the age of 65. As a younger man, John enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling. He always helped out in the community whenever he was able. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and travelling to different places. He was always a prankster and liked a good laugh. He also enjoyed music, especially music from back home in Nova Scotia. He liked singing and dancing to these songs. John made many new friends with other residents and staff in the years that he spent at Forest View Place. An informal gathering to celebrate and remember John Robert Marshall took place in the Conference Room at the Wells Gray Inn, Clearwater, B.C., on Saturday, March 12, 2011. Rather than receive flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Recreation Fund, Forest View Place, Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater, B.C., V0E 1N0. Arrangements for interment at a later date in St. John's Parish Cemetery, Windsor, have been entrusted to Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd., 419 Albert St., Windsor. God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be
So He wrapped His arms around you
And whispered "Come to Me"
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain.
I could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.
