It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wayne MacPherson, Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late William and Dolly (Nicholson) MacPherson.
Wayne worked many years at AECL in Port Hawkesbury, until their closing. He then moved home and opened R & W Advertising until his retirement in 1998. Since then, he has been able to indulge in his true passion, antique autos. Wayne spent many hours cruising and enjoying his 1955 Plymouth, meeting many friends who shared this passion.
Wayne is survived by sons, Scott (Leslie), Winnipeg and Chad (Michelle), Sydney; grandchildren, Cameron and Colin, Winnipeg and Noah and Olivia, Sydney; sister, Marlene (Dee) MacDonald, Marion Bridge. He will be sadly missed by Jessie Stubbert, his special companion and earth angel.
Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his wife, Terri-Ann (Powell); granddaughter, Rebecca MacPherson; and nephew, Robert ‘Tigger’ MacDonald.
Visitation for Wayne will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Victoria Road on Friday 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Hussey officiating. Interment in St. David’s Cemetery, Port Hastings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to An Cala Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or charity of choice.
