Aiden Tobin

Aiden Jerome Tobin, 48 of Oromocto, NB passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, March 20, 2011. He was a “good ol’ Newfie” boy born in Come By Chance, Newfoundland to Mary (Emberley) and the late William Tobin. He is survived by his wife Patricia of 16 years, as well as all his brothers and sisters, Al, Bernie (Donna), Chris, Eileen, Freeman (Marg), Jane, Jim (Pat), Molly, Pete (Doreen), Viola and Yvonne. There are also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and his vast military family that grew in size with every year. Aiden a proud Newfie, Canadian, and Soldier joined the RNFLDR (Royal NFLD Regiment) in 1979, from there he went straight into the Regular Force in 1988, where he was posted to the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI), then 2nd Battalion (PPCLI) with which he did 3 tours to Bosnia, as well as 3 tours to Afghanistan. Even though Aiden was posted to various bases across Canada from Victoria, BC, Shilo, MB, to Gagetown, NB, he always made everyone around him feel like they were at home, as his kind heart, generosity, and sense of humour always made everyone comfortable and relaxed. Aiden was well known for his love of animals especially his four legged children Sasha, Taz, and Dakota.
Viewing will be at Caul’s Funeral Home located in St. John’s, NL, on Sunday, March 27, 2011 (2 to 4 and 7 to 9). There will be a full Military Funeral at St. John’s Basilica in St. John’s, NL on Monday, March 28th, 2011 at 1000 a.m., interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre RC Cemetery. There is will also be a memorial service at St. Mary’s Chapel, CFB Gagetown at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local SPCA in Aiden’s Name. www.oromcotfh.com
