The death occurred at the Western Hospital, Alberton on Thursday March 24, 2011 of John J. Poirier of Miminegash aged 78 years. Beloved husband of Barbara Poirier nee McKenna. John was born in St. Edward, March 4, 1933, son of the late Solomon and Margaret (Lavoilette) Poirier. He is survived by daughters JoAnne (Don) Darrell, Orleans, Ottawa; Debbie (Glenn) Parsons, Summerside and Cathy (Tom) Roy, Cole Harbour, N.S. Loving grandfather to Jennifer, Melanie, Joby, Angela, Patrick, Grant and Jaret and great granddaughter Eva Grace. Dear brother to Anita Wedge, Miminegash; Raymond (Josie) Poirier, Oromocto, N.B.; Delia Shields, Hamilton, Ont. and Sylvia (Gerald) Aylward, Alberton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Solomon and Margaret, a son David and a brother Leo. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Road for visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 9-10 a.m. Funeral will be held Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
