Edward (Ted) Pearcey
Passed on: March 24th, 2011
March 4, 1928 - March 24, 2011. Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex in St. John’s, Edward (Ted) Pearcey. Leaving to mourn his daughter Debbie Cooper (Eric) and their sons Grant and Bryan, as well as son Glenn Pearcey and his children Laura and Greg. Better known to many as Captain Ted, his true passion was flying. He logged thousands of hours starting the early days as a bush pilot and flying everything from water bombers, to air ambulances and the Province's executive jet. Ted was the first Director of the Provincial Government's Air Service. He also became a helicopter pilot in mid life and loved the freedom of that. Fishing the province’s salmon rivers was also something he found great pleasure in. Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation for those who want to share stories about Ted at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday, March 27th from 2-6 p.m. No flowers but donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be welcome.
