It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cecilia Peters announce her passing at the age of 81 years, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 23rd, 2009. She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Isabella O’Neill; husband, Patrick Peters and grandson, Sean Green. Cecilia had a long and enjoyable life surrounded by many friends and family, especially those friends at the bingo and card games which she loved to attend. She leaves to mourn seven children: Marjorie (late Kevin Harmon), Richmond, BC, Myra Green (Andy), Corner Brook, Marcia Hull (Raymond), Corner Brook, Bernie Wylie (Garth Young), Dartmouth, NS, Patricia Gray (Ronald), Dartmouth, NS, Sheila Collins (Lester), Dartmouth, NS and Patrick Peters Jr. (Cathy), Dartmouth, NS. She also leaves to mourn her siblings: Henry O’Neill (Barb), Nora Hicks (Roy), Gertrude O’Neill, Delores Marshall (George), Eileen Ginn (Gordon), Ann Carlton (Chuck), Maureen Pollard (Jim); 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and her companion, Maxwell Rose, currently residing at Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre. Cecilia fought a difficult battle with dementia and then digressed to Alzheimer’s, but now she has achieved her gift promised to her at her baptism, and now resides with the angels. Her family will miss her now and forever. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, on Sunday between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Monday, July 27th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from All Hallows RC Parish, Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
