It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Michael Delaney, on July 23, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Bernard and Sarah (Wade) Delaney.
Mike was employed as a boilermaker until his retirement.
Mike is survived by his stepsons, Brian (Barb), Terry (Delores) and David (Cathy); four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Clara Lloyd and Mary Doucete, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Eva; sisters, Margaret \'Peggy\' (Lawrence), Ann (Michael); brothers, William (Catherine), Frank ‘Tanner’ (Jean), Alphonse (Theresa); brothers–in–law, Del Richardson, Ralph Lloyd.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Monday, July 27, 2009 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 28 in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Frank Abbass offiaciting. Reception to follow.
