The death occurred at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home on Thursday, July 23, 2009, of Mr. J. Alexander “Alex” MacDonald of Waterview Heights, Charlottetown and formerly of Blooming Point, age 85 years. Beloved husband of Helen (nee McGuigan) MacDonald and dear father of Gerard MacDonald of Edmonton, Alberta; Mary (Ivan) Shreenan of Blooming Point, Linda (Melvin) Cheverie of Blooming Point, Dianne MacDonald of Charlottetown, Wayne MacDonald of Charlottetown and Cathy (Clair) Dunsford of Charlottetown. Alex was the loving grandfather to David Lindstrom, Amanda Lindstrom, Jason (Julie) Shreenan, Gina (Blaine) Fitzpatrick, Scott Shreenan, Bobby (Amanda) Cheverie, Patti (Rob) Stavert, Timothy (Amanda Lisi) Cheverie, Chris MacDonald, Matthew Dunsford and Melissa Dunsford; great-grandfather to Samuel, Easton and Bella; Luke and Macy. He is survived by his sisters, Genevieve Fail of Philadelphia, Bernice Becker of Iowa and Evelyn Hoff of Virginia; sisters-in-law Thelma MacDonald of Souris and Martha MacDonald of Stratford. He was predeceased by his parents, John D. and Mary (MacIsaac) MacDonald; sisters, Anna Cloutier of Montreal and Edna MacKinnon of Mass.; brothers, Clarence MacDonald of Souris and Leonard MacDonald of Stratford. Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Monday morning, then transferred to St. Bonaventure Church, Tracadie Cross, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Society or the Association of Community Living.
