Donald Harold was born August 23, 1931 at Admiral, Sask. He received his education at Pelletier Hill School. In 1959 he went to Calgary to work. Well there he was employed with Bennett and White Construction, Hingle tile sitters, and Oscar Mantie Construction. He often reminisced and could tell you every building he had a part in building. It was while he was in Calgary that he met Dolly, daughter of Rosa and Frank Salvador of Cut Knife. They were married November 12, 1955. It was in 1959 they moved to live on the former Ostby farm near Admiral to start farming. He was an active member of the Admiral Town and Country. He instrumental in getting the Admiral rink up and running. Donating a house trailer as a temporary lobby until and new one could be constructed. He spent many hours lending his exceptional carpentry skills to get the task completed. Don enjoyed fishing and ensured there was annual summer trip to the north country with his family on many a fishing adventure. He also was an excellent carpenter appreciating a fine piece of wood. Often neighbors calling on him to help solve their building problems. He was a faithful fan of the Trading post, writing every number down and keeping them for years. Phoning his family and friends making sure we didn't miss a deal. He had a special place in his heart for his sister Carol. He relished in teasing her and teaching her to drive before she could see over the wheel. Carole accounted she sat on his knee; she had control of the steering wheel and he stepped on the gas. As it goes thats how he taught all his children and grand children to drive as well. Don was a big man but his heart was even bigger. It gave him great joy to reach out a helping hand or just to make someone smile. He was a Protector and found it difficult this last year to reach out and ask for help. He touched many peoples lives and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
