(1930-2011). Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, after a short illness, on March 27, 2011, Charles R. (Charlie) Cook, in his 81st year. Predeceased by his parents Charles R. and Dorothy (Lukins); brothers Armand and John; sister Shirley and sister-in-law Catherine. Leaving to mourn his wife and best friend of 54 years Una (Goulding); sons Charles (Andrea) and Roger (Donna); grandsons Christopher, Jacob and Adam; sister Jesse (Ontario); brother-in-law Franklin (Barbara) Goulding and sisters-in-law Joy (Raymond) Pretty of Grand Falls-Windsor and Mary Sue Goulding, Wolfville, NS; numerous nephews and nieces and a large number of relatives and friends. Charlie was actively involved in the community through the Masonic Fraternity, The Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee, Downtown Development Commission, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Northwest Rotary Club, the Church Lads Brigade and Golf Newfoundland and Labrador. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the HSC, 4NorthA for their professionalism and compassion. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday and Wednesday with visitation from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral service to take place at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Logy Bay Road on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to the Mazol Shriners Patient Transportation Fund or the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation.
