Peacefully at her daughter’s residence in Halifax, on March 29, 2011 of Noreen Mary Greenan (nee Sherry), formerly of Newton, PEI, loving wife of the late Borden John Greenan. Noreen was born in Fernwood, PEI, on Jan. 16, 1936, to her late parents William and Alice (Walsh) Sherry. Noreen had a happy childhood growing up in a large family in Fernwood, PEI. As a teenager, she entered the Sisters of St. Martha’s of Prince Edward Island where she devoted her life to the Lord for seven years. She graduated from the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. In 1961, she married and moved to the Greenan family farm in Newton, PEI. Here, Noreen and her husband, Bordie, hosted many family gatherings, family reunions and opened their door to neighbours and friends. The Greenan homestead was the go-to place when family returned to PEI to visit. Noreen spent over 25 years enjoying the challenges and comradeship at Prince County Hospital in Summerside. Following her retirement, she travelled with family and treasured time spent with her precious grandchildren. She was a faithful member of St. Malachy’s Church in Kinkora for many years. Noreen is survived by her sons, Blair (Marsha), Halifax; John (Deanna), Newton; and daughter, Jennifer Greenan (David Peyton), Halifax; grandchildren, Matthew and Ellen Greenan, Halifax; Jacob, Andrew and Robert Greenan, Newton; and Eve Peyton, Halifax; brother, John Sherry, Fernwood; sisters-in-law, Judy Sherry, Vange O’Rourke (Paul), Georgie Allen, Madeline MacEwan (Sheldon), Mildred Connolly and many special nieces and nephews.
