Roderick "Rod" J Noiles, age 71, of Amherst Point Road, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Fred and Mary (Coster) Noiles.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Jeanne Martin; children Marlene (James) Chestnut, Roddy (Sherry), Kimberly (Rick) Needham and Raylene (Pat) Oliver, all of London, ON; step-children Richard Paradis, Invermere, BC and Roger Paradis, Welland, ON; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brothers Arnold, Amherst, Delbert (Betty) Oshawa, ON; sisters Gwen Noiles, Amherst, Betty Stone, Port Stanley, ON, Audrey Noiles, BC. He was predeceased by a brother Bernie Noiles.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). A graveside service will be held at the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 10 am, Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. To honour Rod's wishes there will be no visitation. Memorial donations to the VON Amherst would be appreciated by the Family.

Rod's family wishes to extend many thanks to the staff at the hospital for their kindness and attention to detail throughout Rod's illness.
