Marie Anne Murphy

Passed on: March 25th, 2011

(1943-2011). Marie’s family are deeply saddened to announce her peaceful passing on Friday, March 25th, 2011 in Bedford, Nova Scotia after a brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and we believe welcomed by angels into radiance and a festival of love. Marie was predeceased by her parents George and Elizabeth (Hann) Murphy and her beloved Auntie (Ellen) of Freshwater, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. The family grieving her leaving and celebrating her life and spirit are her partner Gloria Bennett, sisters: Helen, Theresa (Michael), and Maureen (Michael); brothers: John (Sally), Stan (Donna), and George (Donna), Gerry (Georgina), Adrian (Marsha); nieces and nephews: Liam, Anna, Michael, Melanie, Terry, Suzanne, Tim, David, Cheryl and Matthew; the Bennett family, mother Fanny, brother Al, and sisters Marguerite, Lillian, Vera, Jenny, Grace and Madonna, and her sisters in spirit in the Presentation Community. Marie was loved deeply and will be missed by family and friends in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and throughout Canada and the USA. Marie lived life to the fullest. She found great joy in music, nature and our connections to each other. She had a gift for encouraging people to find and accept themselves for who they really are. This was particularly evident in her later years through her work with women at the Marguerite Centre. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Marguerite Parish, Sacred Heart Church site in Timberlea on Wednesday March 30 at 2:00 p.m. Her family and friends will gather for Eucharistic Celebration and interment of her ashes in St. John’s during the summer at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers a donation to The Marguerite Centre, P.O. Box 1, 1714 St. Margaret’s Bay Road, Lakeside, Nova Scotia, B3T 1M6, would be most appreciated.
“Let every gesture of kindness and sign of affection be a celebration of the love and caring we share.”
