The death of Shirley N. Canfield, 74, Amherst occurred suddenly on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at home, with her loving husband by her side.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of Florence (Hashey) Smith and the late Joseph Smith.
Shirley enjoyed playing Bingo and watching television, especially her favourite soap operas. She was a loving wife, sister, friend, and will be sadly missed by all.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Douglas James, Amherst; mother, Florence Smith, Amherst; four brothers, Doug, Bill (Diane), Jack (Pat) and Vincent all of Amherst; five sisters, Diane (Fraser) MacLeod, Pugwash, June Perry, Moncton, NB, Rose (Betty) Riverview, NB, Eleanor (Jerry) Borden , and Mary Lewis both of Amherst; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides her father, Joseph, Shirley was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Donald.
As per Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request.
Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Rev. Raymond Fancy officiating.
A time of sharing and refreshments will follow in the funeral home.
