Christene Mae MacAskill, 87, of Indian Brook, died peacefully on July 26, 2009, at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born in the Meadow Road, North River, she was the daughter of the late Angus and Cassie (MacKenzie) MacDonald.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, the MacLeod AMS and ladies auxiliary of North Shore Fire Department and North Shore Home and School.
Christene will always be remembered for her strong compassion and care toward others, her wonderful baking, cups of tea and warm conversation.
She is survived by sons, Calvin (Diane), Sydney, Earl (Bonnie), Kingston, Ont.; a special friend, Shirley Hefferon, with whom she recently resided; two grandchildren, Chris (Kui) and Steven (Kelly); three great-grandchildren, Noelle, Shayla and Eileen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, D.J. MacAskill, her sisters, Annie Sarah MacDonald and Jo Hanna Dauphaney, brother, John D. MacDonald, stepbrothers, Angus and Danny and granddaughter, Tracy MacDonald.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, North River, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. July 30, 2009, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Shirley Murdock officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hills Cemetery.
Donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or a charity of one’s choice.
