Mac McKinnon, husband, father, and grandfather passed away on March 24, 2011 at the age of 75 years. Mac was born in Little Harbour, PEI in the same house as his father and grew up on McKinnon's Point near Souris, PEI. He moved to Toronto as a young man and began working in the meat packing industry. He stayed in this industry for nearly thirty years and with it traveled and lived in Toronto, Lethbridge, Calgary, and Brooks. In Brooks he oversaw the construction and operation of the Lakeside Packing plant. A second career in Real Estate brought Mac back to Calgary where he lived the last 29 years of his life. Mac was an avid bridge player and enjoyed curling, a pastime that introduced him to his wife Rosemary in 1967. Mac is survived by his wife Rosemary McKinnon (Price), four sons, Robert, John, Dan, and Michael as well as four Grandchildren. Mac is remembered by his siblings Estelle, Dan, Maureen, Justin, Betty, Ken, and Dave as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mac was preceded by his parents John Charles McKinnon and Mary Ann McKinnon (MacAulay) and siblings James Augustus, Albie, Alice, and Margie. He was a man of logic and reason, a generous soul who lived his life with honour, integrity and compassion for his loved ones. If friends so desire, in consideration of Rosemary, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Alzheimer Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca). A Memorial Service will be held at Leyden's Funeral Home Calgary on Saturday April 2nd at 2:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting www.leydens.com
