David Addicott, 69, of Mitchell Avenue, Dominion, and formerly of Glace Bay passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital after a battle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, Dec. 17, 1939, he was the oldest son of the late James and Mary Ann (MacInnes) Addicott.
David lived in Kitchener for many years returning to Cape Breton to retire in the town of Dominion. There he became involved with the Dominion Hawks Club where he found many good friends.
He is survived by his partner of 25 years, Pauline; sons, Darren (Sherry), Lingan, Omar (Kristen), Missouri, Rene (Anna), Greenwood; sisters, Roberta Olivieri (Rollie), Kitchener, Shiela (Daniel) Budge, Halifax, Alice (Norman) Landry, Port Hawkesbury, Colleen (Darrell) Kelly, Glace Bay, Ann (Ken Dumont), Glace Bay; and brothers, James (Jenny), Sydney, Steve (Joanne), Glace Bay.
David is survived by Pauline’s daughters, Debbie (George)VandreEyk, Paula, Ann, all of Ontario; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Tom and grandchild, Garrett.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Following the mass, all are invited to join the family for a reception in the parish hall.
As an expression of sympathy for David, donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Regional Hospital.
