DEASE, Sophia Maude “Fi” - 94, of Yarmouth, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on March 26, 2011. Born in Yarmouth on January 17, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ann Marguerite (Muise) Nixon. Sophia was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. She was also a life member of the P.C. Association. During her final years, she resided at Sunset Terrace on James Street in Yarmouth. She is survived by daughter, Louise Ann Boyd, St. Catharines, Ont.; sons, Gregory (Meredith) Dease, Yarmouth; Jackie (Donna-Lee) Dease, Yarmouth; sister, Ruth “Ruby” Nickerson, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Beverly Ann Froese, Gregory Boyd, Jeremy Dease and Julian Dease; great-grandsons, Gregory Boyd and Mateo Dease; special niece, Trudy Strucker, Riverside, California; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, George; sisters, Hilda and Flora; brothers, John, George, Melvin and Victor. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Tuesday, March 29 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel where funeral service was held Wednesday, March 30 at 2 p.m., Father Doug Chard officiated. Interment will take place at a later date in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth Firefighters Museum or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of 3 East at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for their care and also to the staff at Sunset Terrace.
