Ronald Charles “Ron” Addison, 79, Trenton, passed away, Tuesday, July 28, 2009, surrounded by his family, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Barnard) Addison. He was an adherent of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow. Prior to retirement in 1990, Ron had been employed with Sobeys for 37 years. He was a member of the Stellarton Male Chorus. He was a past-president of Trenton Minor Hockey, an original member of the Trenton Minor Sports Association and also served on the Trenton Centennial Days Committee. Ron enjoyed the outdoors, especially his gardens, and most of all, spending time with his family. He looked forward to the afternoon “McDonald’s Coffee Group”, which he attended with Joan. He was affectionately called “Bumpa” by his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years and best friend, Joan; daughter, Judy (Dave) MacNeil, Linacy; sons, Ronnie (Patsy) Addison, New Glasgow; Rich (Kelly) Addison, Charlottetown, PEI; brother, Roy (Fay) Addison, Tillsonburg, Ont.; grandchildren, Sarah (Mike), Stephanie, Keith, Nicole, Natalie, Kate, Matthew and David; many extended family members.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday in First United Baptist Church with Rev. Leo Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
