We regret to announce that Bernard Leroy Tremblett passed away April 3, 2011, on his 70th birthday surrounded by his family at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Sidney and Ella Mae (LeBlanc) Tremblett.
In his early years Darkie was employed by Devco as a coal miner and he also sailed on the great lakes, but his greatest passion was earning a living on the waters off of Black Point as a fishermen. Darkie began fishing when he was 12-years old, and purchased his first lobster licence for just .25 cents. Prior to his illness he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending his spare time fishing, hunting and camping with his children.
Da is survived by his devoted wife, Annie Mae (Forrest); his son, Ronald (Tracey Jardine), Georges River; daughters, Shryl (Matt Dodington), Tanya (Donnie Faulkner), and daddy’s little girl Roxanne, all of Sydney Mines.
Poppy will be missed by grandsons, Cole Jardine, Mathew MacNeil, Michael and Nicholas Tremblett, Lucas, Nate and Jared Dodington and granddaughter, Stevi Paige Jardine.
Dark is also survived by sisters, Germaine Gamelin, Shirley Hawkins, Jane Jackson, Silvia Marsh, Carol Ann Johnston, Donna Dunne and Colleen Tremblett, brothers, Sidney, Melvin, Clarence (Gussie), Ernest, Paul and Terrance. Poppy will also be missed by his longtime companion, his dog, ‘Baby’ who was always by his side.
Da is finally resting in peace with his pride and joy, his son, Bernard William ‘Bernie’, infant daughter, Brenda Lee, and sister, Lena.
There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held Tuesday April 5, 2011, at 2 p.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr.Ajit Kerketta officiating. A reception will be held in the parish hall following the mass.
In lieu of flowers donations in Da’s memory may be made to the organizations that he supported such as the IWK Children’s Hospital, Children’s Wish or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
