Georgina Astles
Astles, Georgina – 69, Upper Onslow, passed away at home after a long illness on April 4, 2011, surrounded by family. Born in Port Daniel, Quebec, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Olive Hottot. The most important things in Georgina's life were her family, her faith and her friends. She was well known for being an extraordinary baker, quilter, and welcoming many into her home for "just a bite". Georgina will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 47 years, Raymond; treasured sons, David and Stephen (Kim); adored grandchildren, Tasha, Jason and Leah; sister, Edith Tarrant (Norm), and Beulah Benwell (Richard); brother, John Hottot; nieces, Julie Tomlinson (Scott) and Rachel Benwell, nephews, Dean Tarrant (Dawn) and Chris Benwell; great-niece Emily-Ann Tarrant and great-nephews, Kyle Tarrant and Jesse Tomlinson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 5 from 7-9 pm with funeral service on Wednesday April 6 at 10:00 am in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Pastor Ken Fillmore officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester Regional Hospital. The family would like to extend deep gratitude to the members of the People's Church who were so generous with their many gifts of baking, meals and visits during the past few years. They would also like to extend a special thanks to wonderful friends Susan and Ralph Gosby, and Sandra and Barry Mellish for all their love and support. The staff at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Palliative Care and the Victorian Order of Nurses provided extraordinary care to Georgina in her home and we would like to thank them for their wonderful humanity and kindness. As well, we would like thank palliative care workers Edie and Theresa for their tender and loving care of Georgina during her final weeks of life.
