TATTRIE, Norman Benjamine – 82, Central North River, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born July 10, 1927, in Tatamagouche, he was a son of the late Stanley and Ola (Miller) Tattrie. Norman was a great husband, father and grandfather who cherished and loved his family. He worked as a carpenter all of his life and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Allied Workers Local 1392. He loved to weld, enjoyed tinkering in his garage and liked to fish, hunt and spend time with his family at the cottage in Brule Shore. He held a special place in his heart for “his” beloved dog, Tickle. Norman is survived by his loving wife, Elsie Mae (Gower); daughters, Brenda (Stewart) Teed, Bernice (LeRoy) Hansen, Diane (Bill) Cream, Tanya Tattrie; grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Krista-lee (Robin) Fisher, Brenton Teed, Evan (Amy) Hansen, Adrienne (John) MacKay, Brian Cream, Lisa Cream, Trey Tattrie; great grandson, Robert MacKay; brothers, Carl Tattrie, Cye (Linda) Campbell; sisters, Nellie Richards, Barb Pidgeon, Rita Matatall; sister-in-law, Barb Tattrie. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Courtney; sister-in-law, Helen (Blades) Tattrie; brothers-in-law, Wilson Richards and John Pidgeon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Norman’s family will receive friends from 2-3:45 pm Friday, July 31, followed by the funeral service at 4 pm, Reverend Gerald Kerr officiating and Reverend Morley Bentley assisting. Reception will follow. Interment will then be held in Blackmore Memorial Cemetery, Upper North River. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Norman’s memory to Truro Ostomy Society or Blackmore Memorial Cemetery are welcomed.
