ELIZABETH “Betty” FISHER
March 29th, 1931 – April 3rd, 2011
Betty passed away at the Shellbrook and District Hospital at the age of 80. She is survived by her son, Lloyd (Helene) Fisher; daughter, Grace (Dale) Becker; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Stephanie (Kelsey) Dortman (Drew and Emery); Darcie Rae (Aaron) Thomas (Easton and Camdyn); Tyler (Tera Habetler), (Linken and Logan), Lanny Fisher; Angela Becker, Holly (Sean) McIntyre; sister, Hazel Karlenzig; sister-in-law, Shirley Ross; brother-in-law, Ken Owen as well as numerous Fisher in-laws, nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Delmer; parents, George and Elizabeth Ross; sisters, Lorna and Anne; and brother, Alister. Betty married Delmer Fisher, June 14th, 1949 in Prince Albert and moved to Spiritwood in the spring of 1955. They moved to the farm in 1962. After the death of her husband, she moved back to Spiritwood where she resided until her passing. Betty’s zest for life was an inspiration and never waned even when she got older. Betty had a long career working in retail starting with Aaron’s Ladies Wear in Prince Albert, Pearson’s Red and White in Spiritwood, Vey’s Department Store and ending her working career after 22 years with Scotiabank. She enjoyed cooking, curling, golfing, bowling, ice fishing, gardening and her many road trips with special friends. She was very active in Spiritwood Seniors curling and golf, right up until her passing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northern Lakes Health Committee, donations made payable to the Town of Spiritwood, NLHC. The Vigil for Betty will be held on Wednesday, April 6th, at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 7th, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Father Francis Agbezuge as the celebrant. Both services held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Spiritwood. Rite of Committal to follow at the Spiritwood Cemetery.
