Alfred Roy
Surrounded by his family, Alfred J. Roy, passed away April 5, 2011, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Husband of Alice (Dorbyson) Roy. Born in Bathurst on October 29, 1932 he was the son of the late Benjamin and Albina (Bourdreau) Roy. Alfred was an avid boxer in his younger years and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Alfred played the harmonica and loved listening to music. He worked for the City of Saint John, and was a member of the International Longshoremen Association. Besides his wife Alice, he is survived by his children, Wendy (Albert) Williams, Fredericton; Cindy (James) Tolf, Augusta, Georgia; Randy (Wendy) Roy, Ontario; Kimberly (Ronnie) Weldon, Saint John; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Ronald and Pat; sisters, Mary-Ann and Leona. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son, Rodney Roy; several brothers and sisters.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4, 7 to 9 PM. The Funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Lou Gehrig Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
