WESTVILLE – Roy Ernest Rae, 76 of Dufferin Street, Westville, formerly of Stellarton, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Pictou, NS, he was a son of the late George and Margaret (Sarson) Rae.
Roy was a resident of Westville since 2003, previously residing in Stellarton for 30 years.
During his working life Roy worked as a miner, later working as a Business Agent for the Labour Union.
Surviving are his companion, Freda Johnson; a daughter, Helen (Al) Smith, Bridgeville; a granddaughter, Jodi MacPherson, Stellarton; great-granddaughter, Shania; a grandson, Danny Wood, Westville; a great-granddaughter, Taya; grandson, Bill Martell, Stellarton; a sister, Dorothy Jamieson, Pictou.
Roy was predeceased by brothers, Richie, New Glasgow; Bob, P.E.I; a sister, Kathleen Rae, Pictou.
His remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Dave Hamilton presiding. Burial will take place in the Seaview Cemetery, Pictou.
