Rolof, Elsie Marie, age 87, of Gull Lake, SK passed away July 23, 2009 at Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK. Elsie was born at home in Twin Butte, AB, south of Pincher Creek on March 30, 1922. She attended school in Twin Butte. Elsie was married to Layton Tully on January 29, 1940 in Athabasca AB. The couple moved to Nova Scotia, where Elsie worked building airplanes at Canada Car. She was remarried to Bob Saumer on April 16, 1966 and they spent 25 years together. Elsie then married Art Rolof on November 1, 1980 and had six wonderful years together until Art's passing in 1986. Elsie worked at the Norwood Nursing Home and also the Barrhead Nursing Home but most of her time was spent providing for her family as wife, mother and homemaker. Elsie was a member of the Barrhead Legion and the Mormon Church. She loved to dance, travel, cook and bake. Elsie also loved to do crafts of all kinds, quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting and many artistic pictures which she taught herself to do. Elsie was loved dearly, she had a wonderful laugh and witty personality. She loved her family and we will miss her and think of her often. Elsie is survived by her children Carolyn (Bill) Sells, Gary (Florence) Saumer, Arden (Louise) Saumer and Dale (Donna) Rolof; grandchildren, Pearl (Steve) Copeman, Darcy Timm, Chris (Shay) Ross, Brent (Melissa) Lickoch; Robert (Aislynn) Saumer, Travis (Lisa) Saumer, Greg (Amber) Saumer, Arlene Saumer, Mitchell Rolof and Angelisa Rolof; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister Jean (Lloyd) Johnson; two sisters-in-law Willa and Irene Hudson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Elmer and Anne Hudson, her husbands Layton Tully, Robert Saumer and Arthur Rolof; five brothers David, Otto, Olaf, Earl and Willard; two sisters Lettie Loza Barnes and Jesse Brown. The memorial service was held July 30, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Barrhead AB. with Bishop Mike Huff officiating. The life tribute was presented and urn bearer was grandson Robert Saumer. The ushers were grandsons Travis Saumer and Brent Lickoch. Elsie was laid to rest at the Barrhead United Cemetery. In her memory, family and friends may make a memorial donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
