Jean Gertrude Way
Died of natural causes on February 17, 2008, in her 100th year, Jean Gertrude Way, daughter of the late William and Nan (McCoubrey) Way of St. John's. Her death is mourned by first cousins David (Marion) Pitt and Thomas (Ethel) Pitt, St. John's; Jean (Frank) Hill, Bayfield, Ontario; as well as other cousins in St. John's, Mainland Canada, and the U.S.A. A sometime student at the Ontario College of Art, she was for many years a practising artist -portraits, landscapes, and still life - both in Ontario and in Newfoundland. Several of her paintings hang on the walls at St. Luke's. Special thanks to the staff at St. Luke's Homes, particularly that of Trinity Square where she was a resident for many years. A Memorial Service will take place from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. With a private interment at a later date.
