Frances Margaret Smith, formerly of Point Edward, passed away April 8, 2011, at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.
Born in Point Edward, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Emma (Lewis) Lewis.
Frances was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Point Edward, and for 18 years, was employed with the National Film Board, Sydney. Everyone who met Frances knew she was special, always putting others before herself. This was evident by the many people who were cheered up by the handmade teddy bears that Frances donated to fire halls, hospitals and police stations through her church.
Surviving are her sons, Terry (Cheryl), Belle Cote, Brian (Brooke), P.E.I., Leigh (Linda), Belle Cote, and Kevin (Anne), Point Edward; grandchildren, Stephen and Nancy, Victoria, B.C., Clint (Jenny), Frenchvale, and Julia, Point Edward; great-grandchildren, Holly, New Brunswick, Breanne, Winnipeg, and Alexis and Victoria, Point Edward; special friends, Ellen MacKinnon and Mary Mathews.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, W.A. (Bill) Smith, infant daughter, Nancy Alexis, brother, Steward; sisters, Eleanor MacKinnon and Reta Lewis.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m with Rev. Laura McCue officiating. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Point Edward.
Special thanks to Dr. Cadegan and her friends at Seaview Manor both on staff and in residence. We hope you all know the difference you have made in our lives.
