FORDE: Gerald Weldon Forde, age 81 years of Swift Current, SK, passed away April 1, 2011 at the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home, Ponteix, SK. The funeral service was held Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. from the Eastside Church of God, Swift Current, SK, with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating. The song leader was Dave Smith and the pallbearers were: Myles Furseth, Myron Furseth, Kevin Scheetz, John Carleton, Todd Klaassen and Rob Casselman. Interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, at a later date. Gerald is survived by his children: Dorothy (Brian) Belanger, Lorraine Forde, Lawrence (Wanda) Forde; grandchildren: Jessica Belanger-Therrien (Jason Therrien); great grandchildren: Keegan and Karson Belanger-Therrien; a sister Eileen Pike and numerous neices and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; Harold and Florence Forde, his wife Helen Forde and a brother Raymond Forde (WW11). Gerald was born at Swift Current on February 8, 1930. He attended school in the Diamond Hills school district. Gerald and his late wife Helen (nee: Janzen) were married June 8, 1957 in Swift Current, SK. His special interests and hobbies included hunting, fishing and time on the farm until he moved into the Nursing Home in 2009. He was very interested in WW 11 history and was very proud of his bother, who was killed in action. He suffered with Parkinsons Disease for over thirty years and eventually moved into The Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home in 2009, until his passing. He enjoyed his time there, due to the friends he made and the care of the wonderfull staff at that facility. Memorial donations in his memory to The Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home Garden Project, Box 450, Ponteix, SK, would be appreciated by the family.
