Janet Doyle

Born In: Florence, Nova Scotia, Canada
Born: July 26th, 1970

Passed in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: July 30th, 2009

The family of Janet Doyle of Sydney Mines wish to announce that Janet, 39, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on July 30, 2009.
Born in Florence, Janet was the daughter of Roy and Theresa (LeBlanc) Power. She moved to Sydney Mines after marrying and she lived happily there with her husband, Peter Doyle and their two sons, Nathan (13) and Christopher (10).
After graduating from Memorial High School, Janet went on to graduate from the Cape Breton Business College. She then worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia for 11 years. Seeking a change, Janet left the bank and began working as a medical secretary, settling to work in Dr. M. Doyle’s office until her illness. She had been missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her there.
Being a very spiritual person, Janet’s faith was very important to her. She was active in her church, St. Pius X, involved in the Cursillo Movement and attended a local prayer group. She lived her faith daily in her life.
Janet truly lived her life to the fullest despite her long and eventful illness. She loved to attend the sports events of her two sons, winter and summer. She loved to shop, travel, scrapbook, tole paint and she particularly enjoyed the company of family and friends. She loved summers spent at both family cottages. But her family was her biggest love, especially her children.
Mourning her passing are her husband, Peter and children, Nathan and Christopher; her parents Roy and Theresa; sister, Donna (Dave McKeough); brothers, David (Diane) and Troy (Tammy) and parents-in-law, Ed and Nora Doyle.
Predeceasing Janet were her aunt, Tina (LeBlanc) MacLellan, uncles, Darren LeBlanc and Edward Power and grandparents, Maurice LeBlanc, Lorraine Roland (LeBlanc), Wilbert Power and Ann (MacCarthy) Power.
Throughout her long illness, Janet’s life was touched by many people and special thanks are owed to many. In particular to Dr. Pahill and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Treatment Center and support group, the wonderful doctors and staff of the Palliative Care Service, her family doctor, Dr. A. Wawer and the various surgeons involved, a multitude of nursing staff at the CBRH and Northside General, especially those on 3A at the CBRH and to all those in the community who provided support and kindness.
Visitation will take place at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, Monday, August 3, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate Janet’s life will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Burial in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Florence.
In memory of Janet and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CBRH Cancer Treatment Center and CBRH Palliative Care Unit.
