Pauline Armstrong

Sister Pauline Armstrong, in religion, Sr. Amédée-Marie, f.j., of Monarch Hall in Riverview, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital, at the age of 76. She was in the 55th year of her religious profession. She was born on January 10, 1935 in Meteghan Station, NS, the daughter of the late Patrick Armstrong of Digby, NS, and of the late Françoise Geddry of Meteghan Station, NS. Besides her religious family, she is survived by one sister, Félice Belliveau, of Meteghan River, NS, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister and four brothers. Sister Pauline spent the first 10 years of her religious life as a teacher, in Arichat and L’Ardoise in NS, as well as in Barachois, Dalhousie (St. John Bosco) and Rogersville in NB. Then from 1966 to 1988, she did missionary work in Honduras. Finally, from 1988 to 2003, she was director of a Home for Handicapped in Pointe-de-l’Église (Saulnierville, NS). In 2003, she felt the need to take some rest, so she moved to the Provincial House in Moncton. In 2008, she had to move to the infirmary. In 2010, she was transferred with her sisters to Monarch Hall, in Riverview. On Friday April 8, she was taken to the Moncton Hospital where she passed away during her sleep between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., on April 11, 2011.
Sr. Pauline Armstrong had expressed the wish to be cremated. Condolences will be received at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Thursday, April 14, from 7 to 9 p.m., with prayer celebration at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint-Anselme R.C. Church, 1014 Amirault Street, Dieppe on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
