DEVEAU, Oda Mary – Age 94, of Salmon River, passed away Saturday, June 3rd, 2017, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with her niece by her side. Born in Lake Doucette on March 18th, 1923, she was the only daughter of the late Emilier and Marie (Saulnier) Deveau. In her earlier years, Oda was waitress at various restaurants in Yarmouth and Digby area and in later years she became a Nanny to her great niece and great nephews until she devoted her life to being a caregiver to her parents till their death. Her strong faith was clearly evident by her many pilgrimages to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Regina Deveau, special niece and caregiver, Joan (Fred) LeBlanc and special great niece, Nancy (Glen) Cottreau, all of Salmon River; also many cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Ulysse, at a young age and brother, Archie, great nephews, Gordon and Trevor LeBlanc. Visitations were held Tuesday, June 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Meteghan Funeral Home. Funeral mass was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Alphonse Church, Father Wieslaw Papuga officiated. Burial followed in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Salmon River. A reception to celebrate her life followed at Salmon River Fire Hall for all who wanted to attend. Donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery Fund or to a charity of choice.
