RUBY AMELIA OSMOND
December 30, 1939 – June 4, 2017
The greatest gift that is ever given to us as children is the love from our mother. Mom nurtures us, guides us, protects us and most of all loves us unconditionally. She's there for the good times and is always there to catch us when we fall, she has a special hand in making us who we are and for that we have many treasured memories that will get us through the days ahead. On Sunday June 4, 2017 we lost the most important woman in our lives, our mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and most of all friend Ruby Osmond (nee Carter) who lost her courageous battle with cancer at the age of 77 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Ruby was the daughter of and predeceased by the late Philip and Gertrude Carter. She was also predeceased by her husband Harold of 58 years in 2012 and her father and mother in law Albert and Ellen Osmond. A loving and devoted mother, Ruby will be sadly missed by her children; Lori (Don) Loder of Port aux Basques, Scott (Wannetta) Osmond of Port Blandford NL. A proud grandmother and great grandmother Ruby will forever remain in the hearts of her grandchildren; Adrian of Halifax NS, Andrew (Jennifer) of Clarenville NL, Richard (Amanda) of Angus ON, great grandchildren; Colin, Rowan, Quinn, Josephine, and Parker. She will be greatly missed by her cousin and travelling companion of the last year, Harvey Zwicker of Nepean ON. She will forever remain in the hearts of her sister Alice (Phelps) Clarke of Norwalk Connecticut USA, brother William (Bud) Carter (Marg) of Port aux Basques and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends especially her good friends Vivian Chaulk and Kay Carter. Also her sisters Joan, Beverley, Wanda, brothers Dean and Mike. Visitation took place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Thursday June 8, 2 pm at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Marlene Harvey internment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in memory of Ruby can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
