Passed in: Canada
Passed on: June 7th, 2017
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Dave Ellis, age 73, on Wednesday, June 7th, 2017.
In his early years Dave sailed the Great Lakes on the lake boats, and from there he worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker by trade until his retirement.
Dave was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, choosing to surround himself with friends and family whenever possible. Whether it was at the kitchen table, or around a campfire, he was always happy to have those around him laughing at a story, of which he had many, or singing along as he played guitar. He wasn’t a man of material needs but lived by the belief of what was his was also yours to share.
Dave is survived by his wife, Barb (Hartlen) Ellis; his sons, Aaron and Dwayne; daughters, Shauna (Edward) Doyle and Stacey; also by step-children, Gerald Hammond, April (Matt) Harris and James Brayon. Dave is also survived by an extended family of grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Cody, Aisha, Keeley, Gage, Tianna, Lucas, Natalie, Damien, Dalhia, Iris, Ruben and Miranda. Also great granddaughter, Kyrie. Dave was predeceased by both parents, David Lloyd and Elizabeth (Betty) Ellis.
As per Dave’s request, his body was donated to Dalhousie University for medical research.
A celebration of Dave’s life will take place on Saturday, June 17th, 2017 at the North Sydney Fire Hall, Pierce St., North Sydney.
