BEILHARTZ, Harry John Gustave, late of Prince Albert, formerly of Shellbrook, passed away peacefully, on July 30, 2009 at Mont St. Joseph’s nursing home. Harry was born on October 29, 1919 to George and Louise Beilhartz.
In 1942, Harry joined the army stationed at Vancouver but later transferred to the R.C.A.F. where he trained to be a navigator and rose to the rank of Flight Officer. In 1944 he was stationed at Eastmoor Air Force Base near Sutton - on - the - Forest, England. He met the love of his life while stationed overseas. Madge and Harry were married on May 14, 1945 in England.
On returning to Shellbrook, Harry worked in his parents grocery store and their Canadian Café. In 1950, Harry and his brother George ventured out into the meat business and started Beilhartz Brothers which later on became Beilhartz Meats.
Harry served on the Shellbrook School Board, Town Council for 11 years, was a Masonic Lodge member, Kinsmen and K40, 30 plus years with Shellbrook Legion. He also served on the Sask. Meat Processor Association for a number of years as Ex.Director and served on the Board for the Meat Program at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon.
Harry is survived by his son Greig(Donna) Beilhartz and their children Danyl(Yanis), Shannon, and Meg, all of White Rock, BC; daughter Pam(Neil)Walls and their children Sarah of Kelowna, Andrew of Prince Albert, Heather(Jacky) and Melissa of Saskatoon; a sister - in - law- Irene Beilhartz of Prince Albert and by special nieces and nephews.
Harry was predeceased by his wife Madge, his parents George and Louise Beilhartz, his brother Geroge, sisters Isabelle(Alex)Fleon, Leona (Ben)Gilham, a nephew Wes Floen, sister -in-law Dolly Ralston and brother -in -law Andrew Winton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shellbrook and District Hospital Program or to the Shellbrook Legion and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
