Josephine LeBlanc

Le Blanc, Marie (Mary)-Joséphine (daughter of Zépherin Luedee and Hélène Le Blanc) passed away peacefully on June 6 at the age of 96 in Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in Chéticamp.
She was born in Cap-le-Moine (Saint-Joseph-du-Moine Parish) and retired to Terre Noire (Saint Michael Parish), an area she loved. Except for her period during WWII when she worked in Montreal, she lived in Cape Breton (Sydney, Low Point, River Bourgeois, New Waterford). As she moved with her family, she met many people and had a wide circle of friends with whom she kept in contact. She was, loving, hospitable, creative, caring and compassionate. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and the local senior’s club. She had a great devotion for Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, often reading the prayer “I will let fall a shower of roses. I will spend my heaven doing good on earth”. Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, inspired her love and care for all creatures from the small caterpillars who sought a bed in her porch to the gentle deer and the great moose which strolled through the yard from time to time. During her lifetime, she was very active in such arts and crafts as sewing, rug-hooking, ceramics and quilting. She also created beautiful paintings, many of which hang in her home. She was an avid follower of the news and she loved music and dancing. She never missed a concert, a dance or a theatre performance. She also attended activities and meetings held in the local parishes. She played TV Bingo with friends and family members every Monday night as well as played cards at least once a week. She loved to listen to music that was played on the local radio and TV station, often giving a little step or two during their performances. Her door was always open to people, old friends and new ones. She was an extremely social being, loving when visitors came to her home, enjoying their company and making sure that they were offered tea and treats. She was a very curious, open-minded and respectful person.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arsène (2004); her brothers, Peter-James, Willie-James and Joseph; her sisters, Marie-Louise, Marie-Lillian and Marie-Margaret. The surviving members of her family include her sister, Marie-Jeanette; her daughter, Barbara Anne-Marie; her son, James Patrick (Mary Morris); her three grand-children, Genevieve Huan, Grace Zhou and Augusta AnTianZhe.
There is no visitation. The funeral mass will be held at Saint Michael Church in East Margaree at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17 with Father Macdonald Ibeh officiating the service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery of Saint-Joseph-du-Moine.
