Bruce Neil Rushlow passed away June 12, 2017 at Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck, Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late Robert and Ethel Rushlow of Springfield, Massachusetts. Growing up Bruce longed to travel and see the world. He lived a very interesting and colorful life. At 18, he joined the U S Air Force and at 27, he joined U S Navy as a Civil
Service Employee. As years passed he studied and moved up the ranks until he became Chief Engineer. After 30 years of service, he retired and moved to Baddeck where he met Dorothy who became the love of his life. They spent 22 years together. In his retirement Bruce had many hobbies, woodworking and gardening being only a couple of them. A kind heart and gentle soul, he liked to share many stories about his life and travels, making many friends along the way with his great sense of humor.
Besides his parents Bruce was predeceased by his sister, Susan Rushlow of Springfield, Ma. He leaves behind, his partner, Dorothy Hart, Baddeck; daughter, Robin, Canton, Ohio; grandson in Chicago; brothers, Myron Robert, Florida and Angus of West Springfield, Ma. He also leaves behind nephews, nieces and other relatives. Bruce lived with a zest for life and will surely live on in the hearts of family and friends. Visitation will be held at MacAskill Funeral Home, Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. with funeral service to fellow at 3 p.m. with Deacon Wally Ivey officiating with burial in Highland Cemetery, Plaster Mines Road.
