DOUCET, Marie Genevieve – age 84, Lower Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born April 12, 1933 in Surette’s Island, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Sylvie (Muise) Muise. Marie was a homemaker and a caregiver to many children in Wedgeport. She enjoyed cooking, reading and doing her house work. She is survived by daughters, Sharon Doucet (Danny Rogers), Yarmouth and Linda (Basil) Saulnier, Cambridge, ON; a son, Eugene Doucet (Rhonda Jacquard), Wedgeport; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Doucet and a son, Harold Doucet. She was also the last surviving member of her family of 21 brothers and sisters. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth, and there was no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Saint Michael’s Parish Cemetery, Wedgeport.
