Effie Louise MacLeod: Age 97 of Dartmouth, formerly of Westville and New Glasgow, passed away at Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth, on July 4, 2017. 
Born in Fraser's Mountain, Pictou County, she was the daughter of George and Minnie (Cameron) Sparks.
Besides her parents, Louise was predeceased by her husband, L. D. MacLeod; her sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Edith Llewellyn; her brothers, Leonard, Gordon, Samuel and Clifton.
She is survived by her children, Linda Stewart (David), Sharon MacLeod (Max Phillips), and Doug MacLeod; her grandchildren, Laura Stewart (John Stroud), Sara Murray (Bill), Douglas Stewart (Shelly Mosseri), and Lachlan MacLeod (Cassie Guinan); her great grandchildren, Jadyn and Brenna Murray and Olivia Stewart; her brother Albert Sparks;  and many nieces and nephews.
Louise was an active member of the United Church of Canada at Trinity United Church in New Glasgow and Woodlawn United Church in Dartmouth. She had a Life Membership in the UCW of the United Church.  She enjoyed painting, exhibiting her art in the local area, playing piano, sewing and listening to classical music, but her fondest  passion was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen Street, Dartmouth, at 1pm on August 11, followed by the funeral service at 2pm. Interment will take place in Auburn Cemetery, Westville, the following day.
