Amoss MacLeod
February 5, 1940 – March 25, 2011
Amoss grew up in the Steep Creek District. All his life he was mentally challenged, the result of a very difficult birth, during which he almost died. He never went to school. Though he could communicate with family, other people had difficulty understanding him. Amoss grew up on the farm and was always attracted to machinery at work in the fields, often walking to the far side of the quarter to watch the neighbors at work. He loved music and enjoyed listening to the old records. He especially liked to hear the Scottish bagpipes. Amoss enjoyed having relatives and friends visit. He suffered a great loss at age 36 when his mother suddenly passed away, she was the anchor in his life. He lived with Alastair and Ewen on the farm for two years after his mother’s passing. For several years Amoss lived at North Park Center and North View Home and he lived the last four years of his life at the Herb Bassett Home. Amoss was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth (nee Plaxton) MacLeod; his sister Christina Martz; brothers-in-law Nick Martz, Bill Simpson and Ron Pequin. He is survived by his sisters Cicely (Gordon) Hunter, Elizabeth Simpson, Margaret (Ralph) Loeffler and Honora Pequin; his brothers Donald (Ethel) MacLeod, Gethyn (Dawn) MacLeod, Ewen MacLeod and Alastair MacLeod and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Daniel Graham officiating. Interment was held at Steep Creek Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Marianne Turcotte, Funeral Director.
