The death of Frederick (Fred) A. Travis, age 56, of Hastings occurred on Wednesday, April 13th, 2011 at the All Saints Hospital in Springhill following a short illness.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of May (Porter) Travis and the late Charles Travis.
Fred’s passion for farming gave him the opportunity to connect and make many friends throughout his working life as he worked for numerous farmers.
He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
Fred will be sadly missed by his mother, May; sisters, Lucy (Laurie) Hicks, Amherst and Margaret Travis, Hastings; brother, Henry, Pugwash; nephews, David (Megan), Moncton, NB, Laurie (Jo-ann), Charles and Daniel all of Amherst; fiancé, Diane Roberts, Amherst; grandkids, April, Dawin, and Arigail Forshner; as well as extended family and many friends he worked for over the years.
Besides his father, Fred was predeceased by brother, William (Will); an uncle; and an aunt.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request.
Funeral service will be held at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Interment will take place in the Warren Cemetery following the service. Please dress casual.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care or charity of your choice.
