The death occurred peacefully at the palliative care unit of the Community Hospital, O'Leary, Tuesday, July 11, 2017, with his loving family by his side, of Earl George Matthews, of Alberton, age 77 years. Beloved husband of Mabel Mary (McCue) Matthews. Born at Alberton on June 25, 1940, he was the son of the late George and Ruth (nee Bell) Matthews. Loving father to George (Mary), of Rocky Point, Jamie (Charmaine), of Cascumpec, Sharon (Carl), of Kinkora, Carol, of Emyvale, Shelley (Shane), of Kamloops, BC, and Connie (Emanuel), of Alberton. Cherished grandfather to Austin, Tyler, Tonya, Madelyn, Layla, Crystal, Darcy, Chelsey, Mitchell, Matthew, Jill, Mya, Jason and Noah. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Payton, Gwen, Seth, Declan, Caleb, Hannah, Grayson and Ben. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Friday morning from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel, for funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Robert Lockhart officiating. Interment in the Elmsdale United Church Cemetery.
