Frederick Samuel Clouter
Born: August 25th, 1949
Passed on: June 22nd, 2017
We are saddened to announce Fred's passing in Vancouver, BC on June 22, 2017, weeks after a cancer diagnosis. Fred was born in Corner Brook on August 25, 1949, a first son for Marie (Hilliard) and Charles Clouter, and Grandson of Samuel and Annie Hilliard, Curling. After graduating high school (ARHS) and doing engineering at Memorial University, Fred moved to Vancouver, a city he truly loved and lived in for over 40 years. Combining his engineering studies with business studies at UBC, Fred spent his working years as an independent contractor, renovating many Vancouver homes and condos. He thrived on this work, and loved nothing better than describing some intricate building project or better still, facing a challenge. And if that happened over a cold beer, all the better. Fred was predeceased by his father, Charles (St John's) and mother, Marie (Halifax), as well as 2 brothers, Larry (Papua New Guinea) and Bruce (Halifax). He is survived by sisters Margaret-Anne (Garth Bennett) and Pamela (Gerry Whelan) both of Halifax, and brother, Brian (Elizabeth Chalker), Victoria, BC. as well as nieces and nephews across the country. He also leaves an extended family of close friends and colleagues in Vancouver. At Fred's request, cremation has taken place and a family service will be held in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax, in early August.
