Mrs. Celia Glenita McDowell (Ingalls), 92, of Grand Manan NB passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 14 2011. Born at Ingalls Head she was the daughter of the late Grovenor and Bessie (Green) Ingalls. Mrs. McDowell was a telephone operator, worked in local businesses, and was a member of The Community Life Church (former Grand Harbour Baptist Church) and a member of the Pythian Sisters. She is survived by three sons; Claude (Janice) Guptill, St. Andrews, Neil and Kerry Guptill of Grand Manan. Also seven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. McDowell was predeceased by her husband H. Harding Guptill, four sisters Luella, Juanita, Beulah, Winnifred and one brother Laurence.
Visiting will be held at Ells Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral service will be from the Community Life Church on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1:00pm with Rev. Dr. Jeff Benson officiating, interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Mrs. McDowell’s family has asked that donations may be made to The Gideon’s or the charity of the donor’s choice.
